Sri Lanka Hen Lays Eggless Chick

The Eggless Chick Is The First Recorded Of Its Kind

A hen in Sri Lanka has given birth to a live chick, without an egg, the first time this has been recorded.  The egg incubated inside the hen for 21 days, before the chick was laid.  The mother died after giving birth, but the chick is still healthy, according to locals.

The story puts a new spin on the age-old question, “who came first – the chicken or the egg?” Some are even claiming it provides certain evidence that the chicken did come first.  The hen died from internal wounds related to the egg developing inside the hen’s reproductive system.
