There were wild scenes of celebration at Etihad Stadium as Manchester City won their second Premier League title in three years with a 2-0 win over West Ham United. City came into the final day two points ahead of Liverpool, and knowing anything other than a loss would clinch the title. After a nervy start, Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany scored either side of halftime to secure the win.
Liverpool came from behind to defeat Newcastle united 2-1, but it was all for nothing as they finished the season in second, still a remarkable climb from 7th place last season. But the day was all about Manchester City, with manager Manuel Pelligrini being hailed for winning the title in his first season in England.
