At least 118 people are dead after two car bombs tore through the central Nigerian city of Jos. Dozens more are injured and “more bodies may be in the debris” according to the coordinator of a local Emergency Management Agency. The second blast followed the first by about half an hour, designed to kill anyone who had come to the scene to rescue victims.
Although no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, they do seem extremely likely to be the work of the infamous Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram. The group has caused many horrific attacks over the past few years and was brought to the eyes of the world by their kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls from small villages last month, prompting an international campaign known as “Bring Back Our Girls.”
