The US has evacuated the majority of its personnel from its embassy in Baghdad and sent aircraft carriers and guided-missile destroyers to the Persian Gulf as the ISIS continues its murderous rampage across Iraq. Most of the 5,500 workers in the embassy were sent to Amman, Jordan, although a few were left behind and had to stay at the embassy.
The ISIS rounded up 1,400 Iraqi soldiers and executed them in a ditch in a horrific act of revenge for the death of ISIS commander Abdul-Rahman al-Beilawy. After capturing Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, last week, the group now has its sights set on the capital city of Baghdad. Thousands of Iraqis have taken up arms and attempted to help fight off the ISIS from the key city.
