US Steps in After Sudanese Christian Woman Stopped From Leaving

The US Has Stepped in to try and Attempt to Free Meriam from Sudan

Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman who had been sentenced to death for converting to Christianity, thought her ordeal was finally over after she was released thanks to a massive international response to her case.  But then Meriam, her husband, and two children were detained at an airport in Kartoum, as officials questioned the couple over travel documents.

With the Sudanese government obviously attempting to prevent her escape from their country, the US has promised to work with the northern African country and try and secure her freedom.  Sudan’s government promised the US State Department spokeswoman that Meriam and her family were safe.
