Hamas and Israel have agreed to a five hour ceasefire, temporarily putting an end to 9 days of fighting. The Israeli military promised to stop firing from 10AM to 3PM, local time, to allow Gaza residents to stockpile supplies. However, they warned that they would act “firmly and decisively” should Hamas break the ceasefire and strike within that window.
Four children were killed by an Israeli strike while playing on a beach near Gaza City. Israel said it was a “tragic outcome” and that “the target of this strike was Hamas terrorist operatives.” The country began firing on Hamas on July 8th in an attempt to halt the Palestinian rockets that were hitting them.
