A female nurse who treated Ebola victim Thomas Duncan has been confirmed as having the deadly disease. She wasn’t considered to be a part of the high-risk group and she has the virus despite wearing protective gear. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is now closely monitoring 48 healthcare workers who are at risk.
It is believed a possible “breach in protocol” in the removal of the protective gear caused the unnamed nurse to get the disease. A second person who had “close contact” with her has been placed in isolation. The emergency room at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has been shut down as well.
