World’s First Surviving Set of Septuplets All Turn 17

Five of the Seven, With Their Mother on the Right

The McCaughey septuplets, who made headlines in 1997 for being the world’s first surviving septuplets have now celebrated their 17th birthday.  Kenny, Kelsey, Natalie, Brandon, Alexis, Nathan, and Joel were born after their mother took fertility drugs.

The seven are now seniors in high school and, as expected, have a wide range of goals.  From joining the military to teaching and even to being a track star, they have grown into very different people.  Their mother, Bobbi, said “I remember the day I found out there were so many.  It wasn’t like ‘Yoohoo!’ There were so many doubts.”
