A Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 was forced to turn around shortly after taking off from London on its way to Las Vegas due to faulty landing gear. The jet circled for several hours, making low-altitude passes so that engineers could attempt to inspect the landing gear. Passengers had to go into the “brace” position, with the majority understandably distraught.
The plane was finally able to land with three-quarters of its landing gear after one set of wheels failed to drop. Passengers were told to “brace on impact” but thanks to the pilot only a few suffered minor injuries. After landing, a round of applause ran out for Dave as the passengers were finally able to breath a sigh of relief.
