Ben Carson Announces Presidential Campaign

Retired neurosurgeon and Tea Party favorite Ben Carson has announced his is running for president.  Carson made the announcement at the Detroit Music Hall with his family by his side.  While he remains a long-shot, Carson argues that his lack of political experience is actually an asset, saying, “it’s time for people to rise up and take the government back.”

Carson gained fame for his impressive 29 years leading the pediatric neurosurgery unit of John Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore.  He successfully completed the first surgery to separate conjoined twins connected at the back of the head.  His career was turned into the 2009 movie “Gifted Hands”, staring Cuba Gooding Jr.  Carson became the second Republican of the day to announce after former Hewlett-Packett CEO Carly Fiorina also announced she was running.
