ISIS’s Flag Flies Over an Ancient Citadel in the City
ISIS brutally killed over 400 people, mainly women and children in the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria. They hoisted their black flag over a historic citadel after the killings. Witnesses report that the streets of the city are littered with the bodies of those killed. Two days ago ISIS claimed the city after killing over 300 Syrian troops.
The recent murders come a week after ISIS increased its stranglehold over Iraq by taking the key strategic city of Riyadh. More than 500 people were killed in the taking of that city. Lord Dannatt, the former chief of the general staff of the Syrian army, demanded “how much longer can Britain and the US continue to show such a lack of commitment to defeating the ISIS army?”
