Blatter Wins FIFA Reelection Amid Calls for Resignation

The Widely Hated FIFA President Celebrates His Easy Win

As expected, incumbent Sepp Blatter easily won reelection as FIFA president.  Blatter was the overwhelming favorite before the recent corruption scandal exploded, and even with all the chaos, he still easily defeated Prince Ali bin al-Hussain.  Blatter received 133 votes to Prince Ali’s 73.  That was 3 short of the required majority to avoid a second round of voting, but with the result beyond doubt, Prince Ali withdrew before the next round.

Blatter have a bizarre victory speech in which he thanked “God, Allah, or whoever” for his win and ended with “let’s go FIFA! Let’s go!”  The calls for Blatter to resign increased after his win and UEFA is still threatening that European countries may boycott future FIFA tournaments.
