O’Malley Took a Jab at Both Jeb Bush and Hilary Clinton in his Speech, Saying “the Presidency is Not a Crown to be Passed Back and Forth Between Two Royal Families.”
Martin O’Malley, a former mayor of Baltimore and governor of Maryland, has become the third Democrat to officially announce his presidential campaign, and likely the first serious challenge to overwhelming favorite Hilary Clinton. O’Malley announced his campaign at a park in Baltimore, where he began his political career.
While he may be a challenger, O’Malley is still seen as a very long-shot to win the Democratic primary. He is an easy target because of two terms as Baltimore mayor and his history of being overly eager to tax. Additionally, he was a vocal supporter of Hilary Clinton in the 2008 primary, being the second governor to officially endorse her.
