Blatter Will Continue as President Until an “Extraordinary Congress” is Held to Replace Him
Sepp Blatter has resigned as FIFA President after 17 years as the most powerful man in world soccer. His resignation comes only days after he’d won re-election and not long after his announcement, the FBI revealed that he is now the prime focus in their corruption investigation. FIFA will hold an emergency election in December to replace Blatter.
The FBI is hoping the 14 men that have been charged with corruption so far will be able to take down their former boss, in the same technique that was used to take down Wall Street tycoon Bernie Madoff after he scammed clients out of more than $2 billion in Ponzi schemes.
