Netflix Aims for Oscars as it Expands to Movies

Brad Pitt Will Play a General Based on Former 4-Star General Stanley McChrystal

Netflix has acquired Brad Pitt for its new satirical comedy War Machine, with a release date scheduled for 2016.  During prime-time usage, Netflix accounts for about 37% of Internet usage in North America.  After its original shows House of Cards and Orange is the New Black proved wildly successful, the Internet giant is now moving to movies.

Pitt said he was thrilled to be joining forces with Netflix, saying, “We are so excited to be a part of the inspiring commitment by Netflix to produce cutting-edge content and to deliver it to a global audience.”  Netflix, worth over $38 billion, is reportedly setting its sights on winning an Oscar in the future.
