Roof Showed No Sympathy as he Faced the Relatives of the Nine People he Murdered
The relatives of the nine people killed in Dylann Roof’s shooting spree at a church in Charleston, South Carolina begged the killer to ask God for forgiveness in his first court appearance. Roof had a stare that was described as “vacant and remorseless” as he appeared via a video link from the detention center where he is being held.
The mother of 26 year-old Tywanza Sanders, one of the six women killed in the shooting, told Roof “every fiber in my body hurts.” The daughter of Ethel Lance, another victim, told the killer through tears, “You took something really precious from me. I will never talk to her again, I will never be able to hold her again but I forgive you. You hurt me, you hurt a lot of people but God forgives you. And I forgive you.”
