Protesters Have Been Burning the Confederate Flags
Protesters in South Carolina have been burning confederate flags and defacing monuments honoring Confederate soldiers. The protests come in response to the state’s refusal to remove the confederate flag from the capitol. Dylann Roof’s racially motivated shooting spree which killed 9 people at a church in Charleston.
Presidential hopefuls have been careful about the controversial matter, with Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee saying it should be the state’s decision, while Hillary Clinton had no comment at all. 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney took to Twitter to say the flag should be taken down.
