Second “Shawshank” Escapee Arrested Days After Fellow Fugitive Was Killed

David Sweat, Pictured Moments After Being Shot

Police have arrested David Sweat, only two days after his fellow “Shawshank” escapee, Richard Matt was shot and killed.  Sergeant Jay Cook saw a man jogging while wearing head-to-toe camouflage down the road two miles from the Canadian border in New York.  Cook got out to question the man, and Sweat turned and looked at Cook before running off.

Recognizing that it was Sweat, Cook shot him twice in the back.  Sweat was taken to a local hospital and it in stable condition.  Locals cheered as the ambulance carrying him went past, and Governor Andrew Cuomo declared “the nightmare is finally over.”
