Greek Finance Minister Quits, Heads to the Bar

Varoufakis Celebrates His New Freedom

Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis quit his job following the “no” vote on a referendum for Greece accepting a bailout that came with strict conditions.  Hours after his resignation, Varoufakis was seen drinking in a bar in Athens, laughing with some friends.  The new finance minister, Euclid Tsakalotos, didn’t exactly put Greeks at ease when he admitted he had “stage fright” in his new job.

Eurozone leaders are currently debating whether to send humanitarian aid to the debt-stricken country, while the European Central Bank said it would provide no further emergency funding to Greece.  Voting “no” on the referendum may see Greece leave the Eurozone altogether.
