At least 27 people have been killed and over a hundred injured in a bomb blast in the Ratchaprasong district of Bangkok, Thailand.  The blast occurred near the popular Erawan Shrine.  Four foreigners were killed and, while no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the police have said it was aimed at tourists.

Police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said the attack was “politically motivated” and designed to create “chaos.”  The Ratchaprasong district has numerous shopping centers as well as the Erawan Shrine, and the attack likely targeted the area to disrupt Thailand’s tourism sector.
