The three Americans who prevented a terrorist attack on a French train spoke at a news conference at the US ambassador’s residence in Paris. Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, and Anthony Sadler took down Moroccan Ayoub el-Qazzani, who was armed with a Kalashnikov and a knife. Stone said it had come down to “do something or die.”
“I just wanted to survive and for my friends and everyone else on the train to survive,” Stone said, “he was ready to fight until the end, so were we.” el-Qazzani laughed as he denied being a terrorist, according to his lawyer, saying he happened upon the gun in a children’s playground. His dad has said he is a “good boy” who would never hurt anyone.
