A new Iowa poll has shocked political experts, as Ben Carson has done what appeared to be impossible only weeks ago, caught up to Donald Trump. Trump and Carson are tied on top, with Fiorina and Cruz in third and fourth, respectively. It means the top four spots are filled by so called “political mavericks” as 56% of Iowa Republican voters say they want a president with little political experience.
Carson has surged since the first Republican debate earlier this month, with his intelligent, well-spoken performance earning him wide praise. It is the first time since late July that a poll has shown Trump not in the lead by himself, and suggests that his position at the top may be under threat.
