Pope Francis Shakes Hands With President Obama

Pope Francis was greeted by President Obama and the first family as he arrived for his first trip to the United States.  There was an awkward delay where the Pope had to wait for two minutes on his plane before being allowed to walk out.  The White House said this was standard protocol, to allow his press entourage time to get in position.

Pope Francis will now begin a 5-day trip across Washington DC, New York City, and Philadelphia, which will coincide with the United Nations summit in New York City.  After greeting the first family, the Pope was driven off in a Fiat 500.
