26 governors (25 Republicans and 1 Democrat) have publicly announced that they are against President Obama’s plan to accept Syrian refugees into the United States.  Presidential candidates Chris Christie (New Jersey), John Kasich (Ohio), and Bobby Jindal (Louisiana) were among those to voice their opposition, while New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan was the sole Democrat.

In a press conference in Turkey, President Obama said “the United States has to step up and do its part.”  He also warned against “equating the issue of refugees with the issue of terrorism.”  However, the suicide bomber who detonated his bomb outside the Stade de France stadium had passports indicating he was a Syrian refugee who had migrated to France.
