New footage has been released that shows the moment Malian troops were able to help tourists who had been held hostage escape. Islamic extremists held more than 100 people hostage at the Raddison Blu hotel in the capital city of Bamako. The extremists allowed those who could prove they were Muslims by quoting the Quran to leave. 19 people were killed before troops were able to free the hostages.
The extremist group Ansar Dine is believed to be behind the attack. The group’s leader has publicly called for a war with France. The attack comes a week after the attacks on Paris by ISIS killed 130 people.
