Hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters stormed the Mall of America and then the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, causing shopping and travel chaos.  The protest began at the Mall of America, the largest mall in the country, before moving to the airport.  At least one terminal was forced to shut down in the airport, and protesters also blocked the road in front of the airport.

The protests were meant to draw attention to the death of Jamar Clark last month.  Clark died a day after he was shot by a police officer in Minneapolis.  At least 15 people were arrested in the protests and the Governor Mark Dayton called the protests “a very dangerous situation”.  However, Kandance Motngomery, one of the organizers, defended their actions, saying, “when you disrupt the flow of their capital, that’s when they start to pay attention.”
