David Bowie (1946-2016)

David Bowie, one of the most influential musicians of his era, has died aged 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer.  Throughout his 49-year career, Bowie released 25 albums, with the most recent being released on his birthday, just last Friday.  The album contained clues of the cancer he had kept secret and was intended as a “parting gift” for his fans, his producer confirmed.

David Bowie was famous for his changing music style and appearance, and for his eccentric alter ego Ziggy Stardust.  Among his biggest hits were “Fame”, “Space Oddity”, “Let’s Dance”, and “Under Pressure” with Queen.  Tributes quickly poured in, ranging from Elton John and Mick Jagger to the Vatican.
