HitchBOT During Happier Times

A friendly hitchhiking robot named HitchBOT lasted only two weeks in the US, after previously traveling across Canada and through parts of Europe.  The bot is immobile and relies on the kindness of strangers to take it around.  It reads off interesting facts during its trips, has a camera that automatically takes a photo every 20 minutes, and a GPS was installed to help track its journey.

HitchBOT started in Marblehead, Massachusetts and was taken to Boston and even attended a Red Sox game.  It had a sign on its head reading “San Fransisco or bust”, referring to its planned final destination.  But once it reached Philadelphia, the bot was damaged beyond repair and its US journey came to an early end.
